The site is located in Braunton. It is situated 5 miles West of the town of Barnstaple and is within approximately 6 miles from the North Devon coast. An existing access to the site is located off Tinever Road.
A commercial estate borders the site to the West, residential properties to the East and future residential development to the North. South of the site there is a large Royal Marines base, RMB Chivenor.
The site previously was a part of a larger residential development with a car park. The Lidl proposal would bring this site into use, create jobs, and includes a revised 35 space long-stay car park which would be owned and managed by the Local Authority.
